News & Updates Blog

Better Late than Never - Mon, Nov 27/07

Well, it's cold again... Which is always a good reason to start being productive. Lots of stuff going on around here, and as you can see a few projects were completed and launched over the summer. The Dominion Health Centres website along with the Ogilvie Barristers & Solicitors site went live a few months back as well as a new site for the Concordia Lutheran Seminary that was done in conjunction with the awesome dudes over at The Met Agency.

As for new projects, the Element Sport Triathlon shop website will be up and running in the next few weeks along with a site for a new startup water feature design company called Pristine Ponds. I might even be launching a redesign of the Aluminum site over the next few weeks, but we'll see about that.

And finally, I've been collaborating on a few projects lately with Bryan Kulba over at Kobot Industries and they've all been working out quite well, so if things go as planned, he and I will be rolling out a new web/graphic design shop in the new year called Workspace Creative. Exicted? Yeah, me too.

Get Clicky! - Thurs, June 28/07

I had a co-worker tell me about a cheap little website statistics application called Clicky. Best stats program EVER. Go sign up and place a little line of javascript in your site... you won't be dissappointed. The free account is good, but for only a few bucks a year, you can get a lot of information about the people who visit your website and really get to know who's looking at your website, how they found you and what they're doing while they're visiting. Really useful stuff.

I've launched a few new sites in the last month or so, with the first being the site for Lechelt Group, an Edmonton Communications and Public Relations company. The Balon Construction website just went live, as well as the Boreal Land site, which was done in conjunction with p40 Communciations.

The ping pong matches in the office are miles above what they used to be when we first moved in here. I'm sure a leaderboard and tournaments are just around the corner. I've got my money on Bernie over at Plumbheavy. Swing by and challenge us to a match.

And last but not least, we've got some office space opening up in here, so if you're a freelance web or design professional looking to lease some office space and get in on the ping pong action, send me an email.

New Location, Same Great Websites. - Thurs, Mar 29/07

2007 has been a pretty crazy year so far. Biggest news is that I've moved into a new studio down the hall from where I was previously. I'm now in Suite #208 of the Birks Building, instead of #251. More room, more sunlight, more ping pong. I'm sure it'll be a very productive environment. I'm also in here with the guys from LoewenDBS and Bascidatepicker.com. It's like a non-stop nerd party.

Even with all this ping-pong action, I've had a few spare minutes to launch a couple of websites. Windmillharbour.ca and the redesign of Definingeve.com both went live within the last few weeks and I should have the new Volunteer Alberta site up within the next few days as well. New sites for Ogilvie LLP and Balon Construction should be up within the next few weeks too.

Websites and more websites. - Sunday, Dec 3/2006

Websites, websites and more websites. Did I mention I'm busy? If anybody is looking for some contract web development work, please give me a shout. I'm sure we could make room for you in the office somewhere.

Like I was saying, I've launched a mini-site for Tahoe Energy in the last few weeks, as well as a temporary site for Windmill Harbour in conjunction with Lechelt Communications and Artsmith Communications. Also, the guys over at Emergence by Design brought me in to design and build a front end for a e-commerce site for selling party supplies, Partypalacesuperstore.com

Besides from that, there should be a full site for Windmill Harbour going up in the near future, a redesign of the Defining Eve site and a few other projects that are so awesome I can't remember what they are.

Stay Warm!

Vacation Time! - Tuesday, Sep 5/2006

A few more sites have been lauched and a few new projects are in the works. Northwestscuba.com was launched in August thanks to the help of those crazy kids over at IMT. They put together a sweet little Content Management System for the Scuba site that included a news management tool, photo gallery and vacation management tool, that allows them to update their list of trips with description, pictures and PDF's.

The Newcitycompound.com site also went live last month. We put it together using Textpattern as a Content Management tool that allows them to stay on top of their content to make sure all their patrons know what's going on and when it's happening. Because really, in the end, if your website content doesn't stay updated people will stop showing up to check out your site. And that's no good, is it?

It's also Vacation Time for me. The Aluminum Media office will be closed from September 16th until October the 1st. I'm going to enjoy the last few weeks of nice weather before The Cold sets in and i'm hunkered down in front of a computer for the winter...

Site Launches! - Tuesday, July 4/2006

It's been a busy few weeks around these parts! I've just launched Bioproductsalberta.com in part with Dirty Lab as well as a new site for the Municipal Heritage Partnership Program in co-operation with the lovely ladies over at Plumbheavy Design.

On top of that, I also helped out a local band, AUDioSQUADron, with a new website using a free Blog tool called TextPattern that allows them to be able to update their own site content with minimal HMTL knowledge. It's a great little application that has all sorts of content management uses. Check it out.

Other than all of that, it's been pretty hot in Edmonton and it looks like summer is finally here. So I went and bought a longboard to celebrate. If anybody wants to go cruise the streets with me, drop me a line.

What's Happening? - Friday, May 26/2006

Things definately aren't slowing down around the aluminummedia.com office anytime soon. Throwing back a lot of coffee and spending way more time in front of an LCD monitor than any person ever should. Got a lot of new projects on the horizon including sites for Newcitycompound.com, HipSalon.ca, Northwestscuba.com, and a joint project with Dirty Lab working on the Bioproductsalberta.com site.

Whew! It's a lot of work for one man to handle.. Which is why I'm looking for somebody with some XHTML/CSS development experience to help me out with a few of these jobs and some more upcoming ones. If you think you have what it takes to drink coffee like a champ and burn your eyes out on a monitor all day long, then give me a shout.
